On the evening of April 25th, a concert was held at Horbury School in tribute to Ted Clegg who passed away last year. Ted worked for Wakefeld Music Services as a teacher and Head of Ossett Music Centre for many years before retiring in 1999 and was held in high regard by staff and pupils alike.
Performing at the concert were Ossett Music Centre Senior Wind Band and the West Yorkshire Police Band, directed by Ted's son, Gary Clegg. With Ted being a trombonist, one of the highlights of the concert was a performance of 'Lassus Trombones' with 10 trombonists! A measure of the impact that Ted had on the area was the number of ex-pupils of his which turned up to play or listen to the concert. The current Head of Ossett Music Centre, Amanda Spalding commented, "It was wonderful to see so many returning pupils. They made it a very special evening for us and for Ted's family"
