Friday 30th March was a busy day for Wakefield Music Services. Whilst the Youth Choir and Fiddle and Flute were performing in Featherstone and the Symphonic Wind Band and Jazz Orchestra were playing in Ossett Town Hall, Ossett Music Centre Big Band had a concert of its own taking place at the Community Centre.
The concert was arranged and organised by the Ossett Rotary Club to raise funds for the various charities which it supports. The Big Band played two sets on the evening and there was a break in between when dinner was served to the guests and the band.
For many in the audience, it was the first they had heard of Wakefield Music Services and the local Big Band, but judging from the comments received after the concert, the first impressions were very favourable. Band Director, Lee Muncaster explained, "We've had a marvellous evening courtesy of the Ossett Rotarians. The band played really well and hopefully they will have raised lots of money for their charities."
