Welcome back to Music Centre for 2012! I would like to thank all the students for their hard work last year which resulted in some excellent Christmas performances at the Academy and at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park at the end of last term. We have some exciting events in the pipeline for this term and we hope that you will be able to come along and support the groups involved.

Music for Youth
This year, the Senior Guitar Ensemble will be playing at the Music for Youth Regional Festival which will be held at Outwood Grange Academy on Saturday 24th March (time tbc). Other ensembles will not be required to attend Music Centre on that morning. If the band progress beyond the regional stage, they will be invited to perform at the National Festival of Youth Music in early July. I also have to inform parents that the Child Protection Policy for the event is available on the Outwood Music Centre part of the WMS website at www.gowilder.org.uk/wms .
Joint ‘Massed Band’ Concert
On the morning of Saturday 31st March, Senior Wind Band will be taking part in a concert at the Academy where they will be joined by a visiting Schools Band from Australia! Both bands will perform pieces from their repertoire and there will be an opportunity for both groups to play together as a massed band. The morning will consist of a short rehearsal for both bands followed by the concert and we will release further details nearer the time. Please mark this date in your diaries though and let Mr Machon know as soon as possible if for some reason your child is unable to take part in the concert.
Thank you once again for your continued support,
Lee Muncaster
Head of Centre
