Teacher Input 1

Our work on the Qur'an involved a lot of teacher input as our children were considered to be too young to do any in- depth research themselves. This is information you may wish to use :

  • Qur'an means "readings or recitations".

  • Muhammad (PBUH) is believed to be the messenger chosen by God to record and deliver His Holy Word.

  • Muhammad (PBUH) (born 570CE) could neither read nor write so the words were written for him by his companions on parchment, palm leaves and bones.

  • Allah (PBUH) himself is believed to have guaranteed its preservation.

  • Companions of Muhammad (PBUH) memorised the Qur'an and the prophet himself recited it to the Angel Gabriel (who delivered the Word to Muhammad in the first place), once a year and twice in the year of  his death(650CE).
