The Chambers

The Great Chamber

The oak paneled upper rooms of the Hall were used as bedrooms, being equipped with large four-poster beds, curtained tables and oak chests for the storage of clothes and bed linen. Many people entertained in their chambers. Dancing, singing and the playing of spinet, lute, guitar and other baroque instruments enhanced social life and enriched seasonal and family celebrations.

The Parlour Chamber

The parlour chamber was mainly used for visitors to the house. A rope bed was carefully assembled ready for the occasion.
