Who's on the farm?

This web site are aimed at young children at the beginning of the foundation stage. The pages are purposefully  designed to be colourful, bright and appealing. The pages are also designed to interact with each other. It is anticipated that all the pages will stimulate the vocabulary and imagination of the young child. The pages are all aimed at developing language and literacy skills, and also some mathematical skills.

How to play 

Page 1       Farmer Pete's house, click on any of the windows, Farmer Pete's pocket, Farmer Pete's hat and the haystack.

Page 2       Farmer Pete and his cows, click on any  cow to reveal the correct answer. Click on the farmer to go back to the home page. 

Page 3       Farmer Pete and his pigs,  click on any pig to reveal the correct answer. Click on  the farmer to go back to the home page.

Page 4        Farmer Pete and his horses, click on any horse to reveal the correct answer. Click on  the farmer to go back to the home page.

Page 5         Farmer Pete and his birds, click on  the birds to reveal the correct answer. Click on  the farmer to go back to the home page.

As the child correctly completes each page a reward is given . This is in the form of a smiley face that appears on the page, if the child incorrectly completes the page, a sad face will appear and encourage the child to try again. There are 4 pages to complete.

Aims

*      to develop manipulation skills in the control of the mouse

*      to introduce the young child to simple computer activity.

*      to introduce and develop the idea of moving forward with the game i.e. moving onto the next page.

*      to enjoy using the computer and understand and learn the necessary skills that enable the child to progress.

*      to identify and name certain forms of animals i.e. cow, horse, hen, duck and pig.

*      to encourage visual  awareness  

*      to develop language and literacy skills specifically related to farming.

*      to encourage the young child to name the different colours that they will see. e.g. the farmers clothes and the barn etc.

*      to differentiate between sizes, and to use the appropriate language to describe them.

*      to use the game as a source of enjoyment and pleasure.
